Cuyahoga Valley National Park, nestled between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, covers over 33,000 acres and includes forests, rivers, wetlands, grasslands, and other ecosystems that are home to the park’s diverse plant and animal species. It also has a rich geologic history going back 400 million years.

Cuyahoga National Park, established as a national recreation area in 1974 and re-designated as a national park in 2000, has a rich cultural legacy as well. Remains of the Ohio & Erie Canal, which traveled through the valley in the 19th and early 20th centuries, offer a glimpse into the history of how the country was transformed.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park generally receives more than 2.2 million recreational visits each year, making it one of the most-visited national parks in the United States.
