The nearest grocery store to Cochiti Lake is in Bernalillo or Santa Fe, a full half hour away. Medical care, proximity to friends and relatives who for some reason never want to visit, frustration with winter weather, and sometimes just old-fashioned death causes people to put their houses up for sale to move to Albuquerque or Santa Fe.

I agree; they don't need two stores in the same city. They can't close their main store, though; that place is a lifeline for too many people in NM! In Santa Fe, we don't have anyplace to get affordable, fashionable items for work or even leisure.
