NBA G League Expansion. The NBA G League featured an all-time high 28 teams during the 2019-20 season, each singly affiliated with an NBA parent club. The league originally launched with eight teams in 2001-02. The NBA G League welcomed the 28th team for the 2019-20 season in the College Park Skyhawks, affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks.
