A fourth-generation Roxbury resident, Kim Janey is a mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She is a longtime education advocate, non-profit leader and former Boston City Council President.

Kim Janey is the 55th Mayor of Boston. She was sworn-in as the first woman and the first Black mayor in the City’s history on March 24, 2021. Mayor Janey is leading Boston through the COVID-19 pandemic with a citywide agenda for recovery, reopening and renewal.

Kim Janey is an American politician who is currently serving as the Acting Mayor of Boston. She is the first woman and the first Black person to serve as mayor of Boston. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
