If you’ve already booked a ticket and would like to select a seat or change your existing seat, you can do so from the “Manage My Trips” tab under the “My Trips” option.

You can confirm this by checking the upgrades tab. On that tab, United will show the number of first-class seats that are "booked" (which includes both people who actually booked a first-class ticket and everyone who has already been upgraded to first class).

If you're unable to access your reservation online — for example, if you booked with an OTA — you must call the OTA you booked with to cancel or change your ticket. Finally, United also offers same-day changes for both paid and award tickets.
