The Meaning of the Chicago Flag. The first iteration of the Chicago flag included two red stars. Each red star represented a key event in city history: the Great Chicago Fire on October 8–10, 1871, and the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. The points of each star also hold meeting.

The Symbolism of the Chicago Flag. The Chicago flag is made up of five alternating white and blue bands and four red stars. Each of the bands has a special local, national, and terrestrial meaning, while every star represents an important event in history, with each point adding more to the story. The original Chicago flag had only two stars on it; the other two were added over time.

There are three white stripes on the flag, which represent the north, west and south sides of the city. The top blue stripe represents Lake Michigan and the north branch of the Chicago River.

The flag of Chicago city has three colors in its palette – light blue, white and red. The flag is predominantly white with two horizontal light blue stripes placed a little away from the top and bottom edges.
