In celebration of Pi Day (March 14), I have put together several Pi Day Activities to make the celebration even more fun! The first is a sing along with silly Pi Day songs that can be used with any age. These are set to familiar tunes. {Click HERE to go to my shop & grab the Pi Day Sing Along!}

14 Pi Day Activities for Kids to Celebrate Pi! We love to pair math and technology to create fun art! This Pi Necklace coding activity is the perfect combination of math, binary, and hexadecimal coding for upper elementary and middle school students. It’s also an engaging Pi Day activity!

Some of the activities they have enjoyed are making a pi paper chain and bracelet (each digit represented by a different color), a pi scavenger hunt that I found on-line, graphing the frequency of digits in a string of pi, discovering an approximation of pi (cut a string the same length as the diameter of a circular container then see how many times the string goes around the container or measure the circumference and divide by the diameter), and bringing in round treats.

This activity is designed to help students practice their fluency with radian and degree measures of special angles on the unit circle and to introduce the concept of polar coordinates. In honor of pi day, students can play Okta’s Pi Fight in radian mode. Pi Line (Illuminations)

This performance will present his work: "Pi Day Anthem" video, a spoken-word "Dear Pi" letter, and the world premiere of a new "Jazz Pi" composition. Then join our panel of pi enthusiasts dishing out bites of pi trivia and pi art (along with a side of puns and pi-kus), and ask your questions and share your pi stories in the live chat.

Pi Day Activities (If you need a quick refresher, to get the area of a circle, measure the circle’s radius, square it, and multiply it by Pi. Area = π x r2) Pi is an irrational number.

You can download my Pi Day choice board template in this post. One of the activities uses the choice board to ask and answer questions. Of the 9 activities, 8 of them are for students to do independently or with a partner. The game in the middle is a whole class game toreview area and circumference of a circle.
