The Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) is a satellite designed to investigate changes in the Earth's ionosphere, the dynamic region high in our atmosphere where terrestrial weather from below meets space weather from above. It is part of NASA 's Explorers program and is operated by UC Berkeley's Space Sciences Laboratory.
